Standard 1- Technology Systems

 

Standard 1 identifies the understanding about technology that students will need to fully benefit from the use of technology. Identifying the components of a computer system and being able to use a computer are examples of what students will do to meet this standard. (NET-S: Technology Operations and Concepts)

Standard 2- Digital Citizenship

Standard 2 identifies what students should understand about technology and how it relates to them personally and to society as a whole. Understanding and following copyright laws and describing how technology affects communities are examples of what students would have to will do to meet this standard. (NET-S: Digital Citizenship)

Standard 3- Technology for Learning and Collaboration

 

​Standard 3 identifies how students use technology to learn new content and demonstrate understanding. Using Technology effectively to collect, analyze, and display data are examples of what students will do to meet this standard.

(NET-S: Communication and Collaboration)

Standard 4- Technology for Communication and Expression

 

Standard 4 identifies how students use technology to share ideas and communicate information using a variety of formats. Creating a multimedia presentation or developing a Web page would be examples of what students would have to accomplish under this standard. (NET-S: Creativity and Innovation)

Standard 5- Technology for Information Use and Management

Standard 5 identifies how students use technology in the research process. This includes all aspects of research, including searching text, recognizing authority of the information, and sifting through data to find answers to questions. Students would address this standard when searching  Web sites, collecting data through an online survey, or using technology to take notes during the research process. (NET-S: Research and Information Literacy)

Standard 6- Technology for Problem Solving and Decision Making

 

​Standard 6 identifies strategies used in problem solving and decision making that are facilitated by the use of technology. Application of problem solving and decision making strategies are present throughout the Maryland Technology Literacy Standards for Students. (NET-S: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making)
